SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Inspector General of Border Security (BF), Vikas Chandra, today said that troops are ready to counter any Nagrota type attack.
“On our side, security forces are alert. We are ready and alert 24 hours. We are passing through difficult times and such incidents do take place and we are ready to counter them”, the IG BSF said on the sidelines of a function here this evening.
Chandra said that troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) are giving befitting reply to the ceasefire violations of Pakistan. “We are giving befitting reply to ceasefire violations of Pakistan. We are fighting shoulder to shoulder with Army and are giving appropriate response to these violations”, he said.
The BSF officer said that troops along the LoC have suffered casualties in Pakistani firing and its part of the duty. “Ceasefire violations take place and we have given befitting reply. We have suffered some casualties and some have also been injured but it is part of life and part of duty. We have given appropriate response to the ceasefire violations”, he said.
Chandra said that under the cover of ceasefire violations, Pakistani troops are facilitating infiltration. “They are trying to infiltrate militants under the cover of ceasefire violations. We have foiled their infiltration bids”, he said.
The BSF officer said that the force is working with Army along the LoC and refused to give number of infiltrated militants this year. “Whatever the figure of infiltrated militants is given by Army it is the same”, he said.
Chandra said that Army is providing medicare facilities to its troops deployed along the LoC. “It is responsibility of the Army to provide medi-care to our troops who are deployed along the LoC. They are providing it and even they give medical facility to our troops at 92-Base Hospital of Army in Srinagar”, he said.
The BSF officer said that Pakistani troops are conducting sniping along the LoC and there has not been any increase recently. “There is not any increase. It is happening at LoC. The sniping is their tactics and they do it at the LoC and we have to tackle it.  We have to take precautions and we have to be careful about that”, he said.
