RAJOURI, Dec 1: Two boys hailing from Loran area of Mandi (Poonch), were drowned in Darhali Nallah near Kheora locality of Rajouri town this afternoon.
They were identified as Mohd Imran (20 yrs, student of class 12th), son of Abdul Gafoor and Jameel Ahmed (18 yrs, student of 10th), son of Salman Dar, both residents of Loran in Mandi Sub Division of district Poonch. These boys along with about half a dozen youth of their village had come to Rajouri town to seek labour work in view of harsh winters there at Loran. They had arrived here hardly 2-3 days back and were residing in a rented accommodation in Kheora area.
At around 2.30 pm today, they all returned from work and went to take bath to the nearby Darhali Nallah. Imran and Jameel also started bathing and got into the water pool created in the nallah. They got trapped in the deep water and drowned. Imran’s elder brother Mohd Sadiq was washing clothes near by and rushed towards them to rescue. Others also dived and dragged them away after hectic efforts but could not save them.
Police party led by SHO Rajouri, Insp Chaman Gorkha along with cops arrived there and they shifted the bodies to District Hospital for postmortem. The police after completion of legal formalities handed over the bodies to the relatives. They left for Loran in the evening in Ambulance.
