JAMMU, Dec 2: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) in collaboration with NABARD organized financial literacy cum awareness programmes in various schools across the State.
These programmes were intended to bring the financial literacy in the lower most age group of the society and open the accounts of the children falling in the age group of 10 to 18 years.
JKGB has covered most of the districts of the State including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Srinagar, Rajouri and Poonch. At present, more than 10,000 students have opened their accounts under this initiative.
Apart from account opening, the students were also made aware of the Central Government’s initiatives like Digital India and Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan. They were also told about technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, online banking, IMPS, SMS banking, Rupay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, Direct Benefit Transfer, etc.
