By providing its soil for terrorist camps to train terrorists and then export them to the neighbouring countries, by giving full patronage to the terrorists, by arming and brain washing them and by indulging in acts that are blatantly supportive of terrorism like printing and smuggling fake currency notes, encouraging drug money, providing latest and sophisticated weapons and preparing launch pads where terrorists are assembled to take orders from their ISI mentors, are the charges which world community has been levelling against Pakistan for several years in the past. The US has been repeatedly issuing warnings to Islamabad to do more in refusing Pakistani hideouts and shelter to the Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives engaged in terrorist fighting in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has raised crusaders in the pattern of fidayeen of Alamut history. These terror outfits are trained, armed and deployed along the LoC. They receive cover fire from Pakistani Rangers at the time of sneaking into Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir. LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad, both have been designated by the US State Department as terrorist and, therefore, slammed with ban, are actively engaged in sending their trained, brainwashed and armed fidayeen into Kashmir to disrupt law and order in this State. Pakistan has devised the new strategy as part of its proxy war unleashed against India. Lashkar-e-Tobia leader Hafiz Sayeed is usually the most honoured guest and collaborator of Pakistan Army and he is the person who has been placed in charge of Kashmir operations conducted by his legions viz. LeT. Pakistan army never fails to assert that the Islamic legions and jihadi outfits are the frontline of Pakistani army’s offensive force. These terrorist groups were responsible for Mumbai campaign, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Uri and now Nagrota attacks on army camps causing numerous casualties of Indian defence personnel. What does this all mean? It means that Pakistan is inviting India for retaliatory action which could be massive and devastating. Indulging in these inimical acts does not speak of Pakistan’s intentions of resolving telling the world that India is not interested in talks. India is not interested because these would be only idle and meaningless, just eye wash and a chance to Pakistan to convince the world that she wants to resolve her disputes with India through talks. How would one judge a man who comes to talking table with a dagger hidden under the cloak. Prime Minister Modi has rightly said that no talks can be held under the thunder of the guns.
Strangely, Kashmir leadership has also been harping on bilateral talks with Pakistan. This is simply astonishing. Why cannot Kashmir leaders see how Pakistan is behaving on the ground and how dangerous designs she is nursing. Pakistan is unable to curb terrorist activities of the jihadi legions flourishing on her soil. Pakistan is unable to put a stop to the infiltration of armed jihadist into our side of the LoC. Islamabad is unable to bring the leaders of these jihadi groups to book. All this is happening because the jihadis have the patronage of the army and the civilian Government in Pakistan is at the mercy of the army. Even if Indian Government agrees to sit down for talks, who in Pakistan will take the responsibility of implementing the decisions arrived at. Pakistan watchers jokingly say that there are not one but three centres of power in that country viz. Islamabad, GHQ in Rawalpindi and Beijing.
India has shown more than desirable patience in handling the perfidy of Pakistan and its army. Modi made an unscheduled visit to Lahore just to assure Pakistanis that he meant good will and not animosity. The reward of his good will was Pathankot attack on the air base. India’s surgical strike after Uri attack is an indication that India is no more disposed to impose restraint on her because Pakistan is testing her patience. Nagrota attack is a clear indication that Pakistani jihadis have established widespread network across Pir Panchal. It is important that this network is unearthed and those indulging in anti-national activities are dealt with firmly. It is possible that the jihadis are receiving logistical support in a large measure and that could become a serious source of threat to the security and sovereignty of the nation. We know that India has good friends abroad and they would impress upon India to show more restraint. If their persuasions are sincere then we naturally expect them to be on the side of international peace and denounce in strongest words the perfidy of Pakistan. If they sincerely believe that Pakistan is a potent threat to world peace, they should declare it a terrorist state. They should impose sanctions on her and stop all aid which flows to Pakistan in large quantities and is invariably used to fund the terrorists active on that soil. It is totally unacceptable to India that on the one hand the big powers raising accusing fingers towards Pakistan as the epicentre of international terrorism and on the other hand offer her huge cash doles in the name of fighting terrorist. This dichotomy has made western powers suspect in our eyes. It is an admitted fact that whenever and wherever terrorists strike in the world, ultimately the blame comes to the doorsteps of Pakistani jihadis and jihadi organizations in that country. Jihadi culture was introduced, promoted, strengthened and disseminated in Pakistan by the US hawks and not essentially late President Zia as is the general belief. By providing unconditional support to Afghan mujahideen, financial, military and logistical, the US raised the Frankenstein and today nearly two decades after the Frankenstein stands in front of her with eyeball to eyeball stance. India understands the ins and outs of this sad chapter of contemporary history. She has to fight the jihad alone and single handed. Does the opposition parties in the country understand what it means?
