JAMMU, Dec 7: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today launched new development works costing Rs 35 lakh and inspected progress on various ongoing projects during an extensive tour of his constituency Gandhi Nagar.
The works launched included construction of lanes, link roads, black topping besides sanitation infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta laid thrust on improvement and expansion of road connectivity and better sanitation facilities, adding that a viable road network is key to ensure that other facilities and amenities reach people in a time bound manner.
“Roads are the backbone, which facilitate development and growth of any area. These are essential for development, social integration and security, and the State Government is committed to ensure that no corner of the State remains devoid of this necessity,” Kavinder said.
During the inspection, the Speaker directed the executing agencies not to compromise on the quality of work. For this, he stressed on close monitoring. He directed all allied agencies to work in close coordination so that the works are completed in stipulated time.
He also sought cooperation of the people in ensuring speedy development of their areas and asked them to come forward and personally supervise the quality of works.
The works launched included deep drain project at Rani Bagh being executed by UEED, lane construction by RDD, inauguration and black topping of road near Laxmi Narayan temple by PWD (R&B).
During the tour, the Speaker also interacted with locals who put forth their demands.
Giving a patient hearing, the Speaker assured that necessary measures will be taken to find early solution to their genuine problems. He informed the people that many projects for the area are in pipeline and will be executed soon.
