KATHUA, Dec 10: Although virtual connectivity has become important today with the emergence of new communication avenues, a good and reliable transport network remains vital. There is a very strong positive correlation between a country’s economic development and the quality of its road network.
This was stated by MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia after inaugurating blacktopping work of Barwal Mohalla Kharakhad at the cost of Rs 30 lakh in presence of Vidya Sagar, Narinder Kala, Gifty, Veer Singh, Pandit Bodh Raj, Adesh Singh and all villagers.
“People of border areas are facing tough time these days and it is the duty of the Government to provide basic amenities at their doorsteps”, MLA said, adding that a comprehensive plan has been formulated for up-gradation and expansion of basic facilities to the people of residing on border.
He said that strengthening and up-gradation of road network throughout the State is one of the top-most priorities of the Government and hundreds of kilometers of road have been black topped with improved specifications to ensure better riding surface and durability.
He directed officials to complete the work within the stipulated time and ensure quality of work strictly as per the new specifications. He further asked them to ensure that the local populace faces minimum difficulties during the execution of development works.
MLA also sought cooperation of the people in implementing the development programme on ground level. He maintained that State has mooted a comprehensive developmental plan which aims at improving and augmenting vital infrastructure across the state to provide better amenities to the people. He said that all the concerned departments have been directed to work in tandem and ensure projects are completed in set timelines.
He directed the executing agency to focus on maintaining quality of works. He urged the locals for their active participation and asked them to closely monitor the pace and standards of work.
