9 robbers held, stolen property recovered

Srinagar, Dec 10: Police today said it has arrested nine burglars and recovered stolen property worth lakhs on their instance in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police spokesman said during past few months some burglary cases were reported in Budgam and in this regard cases under FIR numbers 355/2016, 360/2016 and 219/2016 were registered. “In order to ensure speedy and effective investigation, a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted,” said the spokesman.
He said that during the course of investigation a number of suspects were rounded up for questioning and ultimately the investigating team succeeded to zero in on four suspects identified as  Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Mohi-u-din Sheikh, Ghulam Hassan Shah and Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh involved in case under FIR number 355/2016.
The spokesman said five other suspects identified as Azhar Ahmad Mir, Waseem Hajam, Bilal Ahmad Hajam, Shameem Hajam  and  Ishfaq Najar involved in two cases under FIR numbers 360/2016 and 219/2016 were also rounded up.
“During questioning these suspects confessed their crime,” he said, adding that arrests of these burglars led to the recovery of one Maruti van, two Bikes, one Scooty, three stablizers, one sound box, 10 mobile phones, 14 sheep, readymade garments, shoes and large quantity of cosmetics/hosiery. Further investigation in this regard is going on, the spokesman added.
