JAMMU, Dec 10: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre organized a lecture-cum-presentation on “Smart City Mission Jammu” and “Urban Land Management Scenario” at Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, here.
The lecture-cum-presentation was presented by Sayan Sarkar, MA, M Plan, Urban Planner from Voyants Solutions Private Limited and Er Vinod Malhotra, Former Development Commissioner, Town Planning, J&K State.
Dr Manmohan Singh, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), graced the occasion as chief guest.
A large number of planners, engineers, architects, representatives of business establishments, senior citizens, representatives of Chamber of Commerce and other organization attended the lecture read out by Er Vinod Malhotra and Sayan Sarkar.
Er Vinod Malhotra spoke about the need to ensure that master plan prepared by JMC gets implemented on ground effectively. The key to the successful implementation of Master Plan is how we can regulate growth on privately owned lands within Master Plan area, he added.
He narrated the successful practices of urban land management in Gujurat and Haryana States. He emphasized that present Development Act need to be amended to ensure that private developers contribute in planned urban development.
Sayan Sarkar delivered his lecture on Smarty City concept and how MOUD conceptualized the smart city project.
A brief discussion on Jammu Smart City has also been touched for the purpose of showing the progress. Jammu is compacting in Smart City challenge and the proposal would hopefully be approved, he added.
Er Ajay Gupta, Chairman IEI Jammu Centre highlighted the importance of topics.
Er BL Rawal, Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and also presented the vote of thanks.
