BJP sets up national committee on welfare of tribals

JAMMU, Oct 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it has constituted a national level committee to study constitutional rights and welfare schemes for tribals.
This was stated by Fagan Singh Kulastrey, National President, BJP ST Morcha, during a meeting, which was attended by tribal people including gujjars and bakerwals at party headquarters.
Kulastrey said that no one is concerned about the need to provide these people with elementary facilities like potable water, electricity, some form of primitive medical facilities, what to talk of other modern amenities”, he added.
He said that the welfare schemes launched by the Union and State Government from time to time do not reach the genuine people as middlemen loot them en-route.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, who presided over the meeting, said that the plight of tribals in J&K during the last 65 years have gone from bad to worst as handful of the members of this community have become puppets in the hands of ruling parties and compromised on the interests of common tribals.
State general secretary, organisation, Ashok Koul, ST Morcha State convenor Ghulam Ali Khatana, Lal Hussain Lodha, Gujjar community members, Bashir Ahmed, Hafiz Javed, Mohd Hanief, Mohd Rafiq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Manshaad Bibi also spoke on the occasion.
