SRINAGAR, Dec 13: Jammu city today recorded the coldest night of the season so far as the minimum temperature was 7.4 degree Celsius.
Leh which recorded minus 10.6 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature, was the coldest town in Jammu and Kashmir today.
The temperature dropped to 7.4 degree Celsius during the night in Jammu city, which is 1.6 degree Celsius below the season’s average. This is the lowest minimum temperature recorded in the city so far this season.
The minimum temperature was minus 0.5 degree Celsius in Srinagar city of Kashmir valley while in Pahalgam it was minus 4.9 degrees Celsius today. Gulmarg recorded minus 5.2 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature.
Katra recorded the minimum temperature of 9.5 degree Celsius. It was 4.2 degree Celsius in Batote, 2.5 degree Celsius in Banihal and 1.1 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 12.3 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time of the year is 9 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 12.9 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 10 degree Celsius, Kupwara 12.6 degree Celsius, Kokernag 11.6 degree Celsius, Gulmarg 3 degree Celsius and Leh 8.8 degree Celsius.
The day temperatures in Jammu city was recorded at 21.2 degree Celsius while it was 18.9 degree Celsius in Katra town, 15.5 degree Celsius in Batote, 19 degree Celsius in Banihal and 13.3 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah town.
A Meteorological Department official said that dry weather is likely to continue in the State during the next 48 hours and because of the accompanying clear night sky the minimum temperatures would fall further during this period.
