JAMMU, Dec 18: Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag has called upon the Army officers and jawans to inculcate high standard of professionalism and uphold core values of the Army.
He was inter-acting with Army officers and jawans at Western Command Headquarters at Chandi Mandir in Chandigarh during his farewell visit to the Command this morning.
Gen Dalbir Singh would retire on December 31 after distinguished services to the Army. The Government had only yesterday named Lt Gen Vipin Rawat as new Army chief in place of Gen Suhag. He will take over command of the Army in the afternoon of December 31.
The Army chief was accorded a warm farewell by all ranks of Western Command during his visit to Chandi Mandir. He addressed all officers of Western Command and applauded their selfless commitment and fortitude in discharging their duties under trying circumstances.
He exhorted all ranks to inculcate high standard of professionalism and uphold core values of the Army.
Later, the Army chief also met Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Chief Minister ML Khattar.
