Govt to call back migrant doctors, others to health dept

SRINAGAR, Oct 9:
Government has decided to call back more than 560 doctors, paramedical staff and ministerial cadre staff who had migrated to different parts of the country.
Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma said “owing to the acute shortage of doctors, paramedical and ministerial staff in the Health Department a decision has been taken by the Government that the migrant doctors, para medical and ministerial staff shall be called back in the department and their services shall be utilised as per the convenience of the migrant staff.”
He said at present there are 111 migrant doctors, 33 ministerial cadre staff and 418 paramedical staff who are drawing their salary from the offices of Resident Commissioner New Delhi, Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, Government Medical College, Jammu and Directorate of Indian System of Medicine (ISM) against the posts of Health and Medical Education Department.
“The posts held by these migrant staff cannot be filled on substantive basis so long as these posts are held by migrant staff,” he added.
Mr Sharma, however, on pursuant demand of the members granted 30 days joining time to such doctors and paramedical staff instead of 15 days which were notified earlier. (UNI)
