VOJ books lady Patwari for possessing huge assets

JAMMU, Dec 22: Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) conducted raid in the house of a lady Patwari and booked her for possessing assets much higher than her known legal sources of income.
As per official spokesman, Vigilance Organization, Jammu registered a case against Patwari Shama Parveen, wife of Showkat Ali of Masjid Mohalla, Channi Rama for raising huge assets during her service which are disproportionate to her known sources of income.
The verification conducted in the matter revealed that the Patwari, posted in JDA had purchased 1 kanal land in khasra No. 57 (old 417) at Channi Rama on March 24, 2014 and the said plot was mutated in her name vide mutation No. 4794, he added.
The spokesman stated that the verification further revealed that the suspect had also purchased 1 kanal more land as Benami property in the name of Akhter Hussain, her brother-in-law, which is adjacent to above said plot and covered both the plots with common boundary wall.
The suspect has been found constructed palatial house on the 2 kanals plot during the year 2014, valuing about 1.10 crore, he said, adding that the Patwari also owns jewellery and other costly electronic items.
During the verification comparative analysis of income of the suspect from all sources, expenditure incurred and assets raised by her revealed that assets owned by the said Patwari are much higher than her known legal sources of income and raised huge assets during her service which are disproportionate to her known sources of income, the spokesman added.
A case under Section 5 (1) (e) r/w 5 (2) PC Act 2006 was registered in police station VOJ against the Patwari.
After obtaining search warrants from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, a team of Vigilance officers conducted the search of the accused house in presence of independent witnesses which was still going on.
