JAMMU, Dec 22: A one day workshop on `Enhancing Life Skills and Leadership among Students: Contexts and Practices’ under the auspices of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers & Teaching (PMMMNMTT) was organized by the Centre for Teacher Resource and Academic Support, School of Education, Central University of Jammu at Govt R S M. Model Higher Secondary School Rahya, Samba (School adopted by CUJ).
The objective of the workshop was to orient the teachers about the Life Skills and Leadership inculcation among students through classroom transactions. About 50 teachers from 30 middle schools of Vijaypur Zone participated in the workshop
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-chancellor, CUJ, who deliberated on how Department of Educational Studies CUJ, could provide assistance in capacity building of functioning of the schools under PMMMNMTT. He further added that the University has a long-standing commitment to extend the support to community, faculty, staff and students. He also delivered an interactive lecture on leadership qualities.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof Lokesh Verma, Dean & Head, Department of Educational Studies, CUJ and also the Convenor of PMMMNMTT. He impressed upon the need of imparting Life skills and Leadership qualities among the students to make them effective players in the competitive world.
Briefing about the significance of workshop, Dr J N Baliya, Coordinator, Centre for Teacher Resources and Academic Support, informed the participants that the various sessions of workshop would help the teachers to understand about the life skills and the classroom strategies to develop leadership qualities among students.
Khajoor Singh, local Sarpanch, emphasized upon conducting more such workshops.
The whole programme was technically moderated by Dr Ritu Bakshi, Coordinator, Centre for Teacher Resources and Academic Support. The participation certificates were distributed to all the participants. Vote of thanks was presented by Jagdish Sharma, Principal of the school.
