JAMMU, Dec 23: The Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Dr Pradeep K Sharma today laid the foundation stone of the university girls hostel in a simple function, held at Main Campus, Chatha.
All the statutory officers, Deans, Directors and HoDs of all the divisions were present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Er T R Bhagat, Chief Engineer/Estates Officer of the University, informed that the hostel once constructed shall have capacity of housing 114 girl students. The Chief Engineer further informed that the total plinth area of the hostel is 11890 sft. and the cost of the building is Rs. 199.98 lacs with time of completion as 12 months.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Chief Engineer and his team and desired that time & quality of work should be essence of this project. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the work be completed with the stipulated time so that the hostel facility is provided to the girl students who otherwise have to shuttle between Jammu and Chatha. He impressed upon the executing agency and the University Engineers to maintain quality of work.
Dr J P Sharma, Director Research, Dr T A S Ganai, Director Education, Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, Dr Deepak Kher, PPMO, Suresh Koul, Comptroller, Dr D P Abrol, Dean FoA, Dr M M S Zama, Dean, FVSc & AH and Iqbal Singh Sudan, Executive Engineer, were among others present in the function.
