JAMMU, Dec 24: Christmas, the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, was today celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm by various educational and other institutions across Jammu region.
Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu in collaboration with CANKIDS, an NGO working for children with cancer, celebrated Christmas in Pediatrics cancer ward. Prof Dr Zahid Gillani, Principal, GMC Jammu, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed Christmas gifts to all the kids present.
The ‘Birth of Christ’ was celebrated by students of DPS, Udhampur by presenting a beautiful program. They sang Christmas carols and performed a skit depicting the Christ’s birth. Inter-House western dance competition was also performed as a part of event. The team of union church added on extra butter, where they spoke about Christ.
The festival of Christmas was celebrated with gaiety in JP World School. The tiny tots of KG Wing sang carols and were attired as Santa Claus and all the girl of junior wings were decked up as fairies. The children sang in very festive mood “Jingle Bell” and danced to the numbers like “we wish you a Merry Christmas”.
Pre Primary Wing of MV International School celebrated the birthday of Jesus Christ in the school premises with great zeal and enthusiasm. The tiny tots came dressed up beautifully as cute little Santas and Fairies and sang in very festive mood “Jingle Bells”. Santa Claus distributed sweets and gifts to children.
JK Montessorie British school and its affiliated unit JK little Milliennium Pre Primary School celebrated Christmas with religious fervor. Students were dressed in colourful costumes depicting the roles of “fairy” and “santa”. The colourful bells, stars, buntings and brightly decorated Christmas tree adorned the stage while heartful Christmas carols sung by the students ushered in the joy of Christmas.
To inculcate the spirit of secular outlook and universal brotherhood among the students, Christmas was celebrated in Knit Green Model Academy with traditional enthusiasm. Some students were dressed as fairies and some were dressed as ‘santas’. The students also presented colourful programmes.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu celebrated Christmas day in the school premises. Students presented colourful programmes including small skits and cultural items. Small but impressive scenes on the life of Jesus Christ were presented. Kids of pre-primary classes presented ‘Jingle Bells’ song.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Patta Bohri (Jammu) celebrated “Merry Christmas” with great enthusiasm. The celebration started with a special Assembly in which the students of different classes highlighted the concept behind the Christmas celebration. The kids were dressed up in ‘Santa Claus’ & ‘Fairies’. Sweets were distributed among the kids.
Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya, Jullaka Mohalla, Jammu celebrated Christmas with solemnity and gaiety. The whole campus was decorated with buntings, balloons, X’mas tree, symbolic stars, etc befitting the religious festival. Children along with staff members sang carols.
Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School and Sai Shyam College of Education, Ghou Manhasan (Jammu) celebrated Christmas with great zeal. A Christmas trees was decorated in the middle of the school and students performed different cultural activities. The celebrations ended with distribution of sweets among the students.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani Talab, Jammu celebrated Christmas day with religious fevour. Students sang carol in the praise of Jesus Christ. Special attraction was ‘Jingle Bells’ dance presented by Junior wing of the school.
A colourful function was organized in Kartar Public School, Barnoti to celebrate Christmas day. The students of various standards perform fancy dress and a Christmas song dedicated to Jesus Christ. Nirmaljit Singh Amn, chairman of the school and Principal, Harpreet Kour, also attended the programme.
Festival of Christmas was celebrated in Luthra Public School, Talab Tillo, Luthra Higher Secondary School, Kachi Chawani, Shemrock Icons, Kachi Chawani and Shemrock Angels, Talab Tillo with great fevour. The function was celebrated by lighting the candles and reciting rhymes in the praise of Jesus Christ.
British International School today celebrated Christmas in the school premises with full zest and zeal. The day started with a visit to the Garrison Church in Gandhi Nagar Jammu where prayers were offered by the students and teachers. Cultural programs were also held in the school campus.
New Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib organized mega Christmas celebration in the school campus. The Christmas jamboree was inaugurated by Principal Neelam Gupta. Infants revelled in the joy of honeyed words and transported the audience to the realm of fancy concocted by euphonious Christmas carols and hymns sung by them.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated the festival of Christmas with great zeal and enthusiasm.  A special assembly showing nativity was put by pre – primary students. Carols echoed in the campus. Santa Claus distributed gifts and sweets with a message of love and peace to the students.
The Christmas was also celebrated in Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, where a team of Radio Station Kathua visited and recorded a programme on Christmas. Students shared their views and opinions on ‘Christmas’ with the Radio team. Many students recited poems. At last all the students sang the Christmas carol ‘Jingle Bells’.
The birthday of Jesus Christ was also celebrated with great zeal in Anuradha Mission Higher Secondary School, Bantalab. A cake cutting ceremony was organized and the students presented dances and group songs.
New Hope Public School celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm. Students presented various cultural activities in accordance with the festival. Principal, Shiv Ram dwelt on length about the religious importance of Christmas celebrations and later on distributed sweets among the students.
Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan celebrated the Christmas day with full spirit with beautiful depiction of the birth of Lord Christ by students. The entire campus was festooned with colourful streamers and balloons and a brightly decorated Christmas tree. Students presented various dances, songs and Christmas carols.
Calliope School, Doomi celebrated Christmas with zeal and fervor. The school was decorated with colourful bells and buntings. The students sang on Christmas carols and presented a mesmerizing dance performance.
Green Fields School celebrated Christmas with fun and fervor with boys dressed up as ‘Santa’ and girls as ‘Fairies’. It was an afternoon filled with songs and dance in the spirit of festivities. The children sang Christmas carols and presented a skit to mark the occasion. Sweets were distributed amongst everyone by the Principal.
Neel Kamal High School, Thathar (Bantalab, Jammu) celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ in a grand manner. Children dressed as angels presented a dance with Santa Claus. They also presented a cultural show. A play on the birth of Christ was the highlight of the celebrations.

Apple Kids International Pre- School, Bantalab celebrated Christmas with a festive spirit at the school premises. Clad in colourful and specially designed Christmas dresses, the young students danced on the tunes of popular songs amidst sharing sweets among themselves. The school was decorated with artificial snow, buntings and stars. Students also took part in cake cutting ceremony.
Crescent Public School celebrated Christmas with great pomp and show. Tiny tots clad in dresses of Santa Claus and angels were special attractions. Children performed colorful cultural items and performed a play showcasing the birth of Lord Jesus Chris. Pre primary wing also visited church. In the end, Principal, Bhavna Koushal greeted the students a happy Christmas.
Daffodils Care Convent Pre School, Jain Bazar celebrated Christmas Day with great pomp and show. The crib and the Christmas tree were decorated with balloons, stars and buntings. The children were attired as Santa Claus and Fairies. They showed the birth of Jesus Christ through a play, sang Christmas carols and danced on the tunes of Jingle Bells.
Depicting the true essence of love, joy and peace, Graduate Bears’ (UKG) of Heritage School organized a Christmas enactment with great pomp and gaiety. The children presented an impressive nativity scene of Christ’s birth amidst carol singing. The appearance of the beaming and dancing Santa lent cheers to the entire scene.
Stepping Stone School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Merry Christmas with pomp and show. Students presented a wonderful play “Happy Birthday Jesus” depicting the birth of Lord Jesus. Students dressed as the elements of Christmas like star, bells, stocking, Christmas carols, played various games and were given gifts by Santa Claus.
Christmas was celebrated with fun and gaiety at Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu. The management, staff and students visited various charitable organizations across Jammu city and distributed food items, provisions, woolens, etc. Sisters also distributed sewing machines and gifts to the people of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal.
IPS (Kidzee), Kathua celebrated Christmas with utmost joy. The children came dressed in the vibrant attire of Santa looking forward to celebrate X-mass. The school organized individual class party for every class wherein they shared and ate with each other while singing X-mass carols. The school was attractively decorated with X-mass trees and tiny Santas playing around it.
Kid Zee School Kishtwar organized a Christmas function today at the school campus. A special assembly was conducted during which students came beautifully dressed in red and white. The school was decorated with colourful bells, stockings and stars. Students dressed as Santa and Fairies danced to the tune of various Christmas songs.
Kids of Twinkle Playway School, Roop Nagar (Jammu) celebrated Christmas in the school premises and presented a good show in Santa Claus and Fairy dresses. A play was also enacted highlighting the spirit of Christmas and the birth and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sake of humanity.
The Nature’s Lap International School, Pouni celebrated Christmas in its premises. Students of nursery to UKG classes participated in the function and performed colourful cultural items and played different types of games.
KIDZEE, a pre-school of ‘ZEE Learn Ltd’ celebrated Christmas at its branches Anand Nagar (Bohri), Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo with great fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration started with a special Assembly in which the students of different classes highlighted the concept behind the Christmas celebration. The kids were dressed up in ‘Santa Claus’ and ‘Fairies’ dresses.
JK Convent School, Subash Nagar celebrated Christmas day with great enthusiasm. A colorful dance and a play on the life of Jesus Christ were performed by the students. One of the kids clad in Santa dress distributed sweets to all teachers, parents and children. PDP leader, Sohan Singh Sony was the chief guest.
SOHUM Playway School, New Plot celebrated Christmas day with great fervor. A colorful dance and a play on the life of Jesus Christ were performed by the students. Students dressed up as the elements of Christmas like star, bells, stocking, Christmas carols, played various games and were given gifts by Santa Claus.
Christmas was celebrated today with great fervor and enthusiasm by National Incredible Literacy Mission at its zonal office, Patel Bazar, Jammu city where students of NILM branch -A, presented various cultural activities. Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director, NILM, was the chief guest during the function.
Meanwhile, The Drivers and Workers’ Union, State Motor Garages Department, Jammu has wished Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Christian Community together with the employees of the State motor Garages Department, J&K.
