JAMMU, Dec 25: Panun Kashmir organised a joint meeting of its core team and the youth core group today, which was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir.
The meeting decided to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Margdarshan Resolution on December 28 at Jammu. A number of organisational projects were also discussed and finalised in the meeting.
Virender Raina, National Spokesperson in his address said that Panun Kashmir has duty to espouse the ideological issues pertaining to the struggle in exile. He added that the exiled community of the Kashmiri Pandits has shown remarkable resilience and has kept its core issues alive. There is unanimity among the rank and file of the community regarding the letter and spirit of the homeland demand, he stated.
The younger generations have to take the struggle for homeland to the next level by ensuring their participation and useful contribution, Raina maintained.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address He raised a number of social, political and human rights concerns of the displaced community. The new challenges need to be met resolutely, he said, adding that Panun Kashmir rejects any opposition to the grant of domicile certificates to the West Pak Refugees.
As the indigenous people of Kashmir, the Kashmiri Pandits support the cause of the refugees, he said, adding that one set of dominant political class of the Valley has no exclusive right to determine the status of the people who have been living in the State for the last several decades.
“The issue of the refugees is a humanitarian concern for the State which can not be brushed away always. The threat of creating unrest in the garb of refugees is tantamount to blackmail which has been the usual trait of Kashmir centric socio-political groups. The nationalist population of the State fully endorses the Government’s decision in regard to the West Pak Refugees and in this regard Panun Kashmir also expresses its full support to the WPRs.
