6 arrested with 80 kg poppy straw

JAMMU, Dec 27: Miran Sahib police arrested six persons with around 80 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Miran Sahib police station laid a naka on Kullian Kirpind road at village Tinday Kalan and intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK02AD-8746 and a tanker bearing registration number JK02AW-1633.
During checking, police recovered around 80 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicles and arrested six persons.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, son of Abdul Ahad Ganai of Koil Pulwama, Nazir Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani of Tengpuna Pulwama, Mohammad Yousaf, son of Gami of Keerian Gandial Kathua, Sunil Kumar alias Sonu, son of Faiza Ram of Tareru Rajouri, at present Patoli, Sanju Singh, son of Nasib Singh of Teryath Rajouri and Balbir Singh alias Pinku, son of Kailo Singh of Mangal Teryath.
A case under FIR Number 189/16 under Section 8/15/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Miran Sahib and investigation started.
Police team led by SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and assisted by SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Pawan Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu Romesh Kotwal.
