SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Government today constituted committees to look into the issue of management/ disposal of bio-medical and other wastes in Government and private hospitals of the State.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Principal, Government Medical College Srinagar is the Chairman of the Committee for Kashmir division while as Dr Masooda Shah, Deputy Director (Schemes), Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Aejaz Mustafa, Deputy Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Niaz Ahmad, Assistant Surgeon (with Directorate Office), Arun Tickoo, Member Secretary, Pollution Control Board, Fareed Choudary, Superintendent Engineer, Shafat Jeelani, Executive Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir and Dr Manzoor Ahmad Itoo, Technical Expert on Waste Management are its members.
Dr Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NRHM is the Chairman of the Committee for Jammu division while as Dr Arun, Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Sarwal, Dr Dara Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital, Dr B R Sharma, Deputy Director Health Services, Showkat Choudary, Regional Diretor, Pollution Control Board and Ajay Singh Wazir, Ex-Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department as its members.
The committees will explore measures to control and check the disastrous consequences of increased pollution, deforestation, indiscriminate utilization of natural resources, gaseous emissions, industrial pollutants and other ecological imbalances.
These committees will also decide the management/ disposal of the hospital/ other wastes in a comprehensive manner.
