JAMMU, Jan 3: J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages today announced the Best Book Award-2015, carrying a cash prize of Rs 51,000, a citation, a memento and a shawl each, in various languages spoken in the State. The awards will be presented at a specially held function later.
The announcement of the award was made by Secretary Academy, Dr Aziz Hajini here today, after the recommendation of adjudicators was approved by the president of the Academy (HCM).
Announcing the winners of the coveted literary award, Hajini said that the award in Dogri language goes to Narinder Bhasin for Char Dishan Char Dham, in Kashmiri to Prof Ratan Lal Shant for his work Kashir Afsana Manzil Te Munaar, in Urdu to Wali Mohammed Aseer Kishtwari for Tarekh-e-Awliya-e-Jammu Wa Kashmir, in Pahari to Mohammed Maqbool Sahil for his book Parchhanwan, in Gojri to Choudhary Fazal Mushtaq Kohli for Gujjar Gandhi, in Ladakhi to Dr Labzang Jamspal for Tetsum Lama Tsultim Namthar, in Punjabi to Dr Monojit for Sabh-e-Gallan Khotiyan, in Hindi to Ashok Kumar for Kass Gumma and in English to Mohammed Zahid for Pheromone Trail.
Meanwhile, henceforth the Academy has decided to confer Book awards in various categories as per revised norms. “From now onwards we will be giving book awards as per Sahitya Akademi New Delhi pattern under which prize money of Rs 1 lakh will be given for main award while as Rs 0.50 lakh will be given for the translation award,” Dr Hajini disclosed.
A versatile Dogri writer Narinder Bhasin has penned down four books till now and two books are in different phases of publication. This was writer’s maiden book published in 2012.
Narinder Bhasin’s ‘Chaar Dishan Chaar Dham’, which was writer’s maiden book published in 2012, has tremendous literary value as it depicts the social, economic conditions of the people of all the four regions of India. The mythological and historical background of the places is described in the book in a very responsible manner.
Besides ‘Chaar Dishan Chaar Dham’, the other books of the writer are Suchi Samhal (Short Essays), Aasen da Chann (short stories collection) and Neel Madhav (Khand Kavya – part epic). The books under publication process are – Aastha De Ratan Deep (a travelogue) and Hirkhe Di Bel (short story collection).
Similarly, Dr Monojit has written eight books on prose, poetry and short stories besides his book ‘Sabh-e-Gallan Khotiyan’, which has been recognized as best book in Punjabi by JKAACL. Dr Monojit is a well known Punjabi satire writer. His two Punjabi books have also been published in translated version in Dogri. His translated books in Dogri are ‘Je Bura Neyi Mange Te’ and ‘Tere Face Di Book Leyi Baitha’. Punjabi Lekh Sabha has also conveyed its pleasure on recognition of Dr Monojit’s ‘Sabh-e-Gallan Khotiyan’ by the Cultural Academy.
