JAMMU, Jan 6: Two days training programme on `Agricultural Marketing-New Paradigms’ has been organized by State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute Jammu (SAMETI-J) at SKUAST-J, Chatha campus.
About 80 officers/officials from KVKs, Departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Fisheries, Horticulture Planning & Marketing, and ATMA staff working in different districts, participated in the training programme.
Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-J/ SAMETI-J, while inaugurating the training programme, deliberated on importance of agricultural marketing for doubling the farmers income and laid emphasis on linking Agricultural extension/ farmers with markets and also stressed on setting up farmer consumer market, adopting contract farming, e-trade and e-NAM for strengthening of Agricultural marketing.
Dr Rakesh Nanda, Prof. Division of Extension Education, SKUAST-J, sensitized the participants on scope/prospect & experiences of contract farming. Dr N D Singh from Khalsa College Amritsar deliberated on importance of packaging, storage, grading and standardization in agricultural marketing for enhancing the net returns to the farmers.
Dr. Shaveta Kohli, Assistant Professor from Central University Jammu, Dr Meenakshi Gupta, Asstt. Professor, SMVDU Katra and Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, SMS KVK, Kathua, were other resource persons.
