JAMMU : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that 370 youths are lodged in different jails across the state under Public Safety Act. “As of now, 370 youths are lodged in jails who were booked under PSA during Kashmir unrest,” Ms Mufti said while replying in the House here.
She said that the government is reviewing the cases for further action. Ms Mufti further said that cases of stone-pelters, which are not of serious nature and those not involved earlier are also under consideration.
“Moreover 138 youth are lodged in the jails in other cases,” she added and said that a special investigation team has also been constituted to probe killings of ATM guard and a lecturer.
The Chief Minister also said that the State and Central Governments have also planned for free education to children suffered total blindness during Kashmir unrest.
Ms Mufti, however, sought cooperation from the opposition (National Conference, Congress) to stabilise Kashmir situation.
She also said, “We need to catch our children young before they adopt gun culture.”
Earlier, the Chief Minister condemned Khour attack in which three GREF personnel died.
She also said that on January 3, she had to rush to Srinagar in view of prediction of inclement weather conditions, so could not reply in the House. (AGENCIES)
