Chhamb DPs discuss demands

JAMMU, Oct 11: Chhamb Displaced Persons Association have urged the Government to resolve the pending issues of the displaced persons.
In a meeting of the DPs held today under the chairmanship of S R Nagial, the members reviewed the progress achieved by Association and discussed DPs’ issues. Nagial gave account of his meetings with Divisional Commissioner, concerned DCs and PCC chief Pof Soz.
The main demands included enhancement of rate for the payment of cash compensation in lieu of land deficiency in respect of DPs of 71, providing benefit to the left over families of DPs of 1971, payment of cash compensation to the DPs whose land has been acquired by SIDCO Samba and Bari Brahmana and by BSF at  Kalti in Samba, 4 % reservation quota for the wards of DPs, grant of Rs 25 lakh cash to each family of Chhamb DPs of 1965/71 (camp and non-camp) as one time settlement etc.
