DGP visits Budgam; reviews law & order, security situation

JAMMU, Jan 13: Underscoring the need for bringing improvements in the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid has said that people friendly policing is our motto and all ranks of the force have to work together for the betterment of people and the nation.
Dr. Vaid was chairing a meeting of police officers at District Police Office Budgam today. The meeting deliberated on various issues relating to the security, law and order situation in the district. Officers present in the meeting briefed the DGP about the measures put in place for maintaining peace and order to ensure security of the people.
Dr. Vaid, reiterated that safety and security of the people is our prime concern and activities of the elements, inimical to peace would be dealt firmly. “We have to brace up for the future challenges and remain vigilant at all fronts to keep the peace maintained”, said DGP.
He emphasised that people’s cooperation is must to make our efforts fruitful for which we have to strengthen police- public bonds at grass root level by addressing public grievances. “Police stations are interface of the Organisation, as people approach them for getting justice and the Thana personnel have major role to win public confidence and cement the relations”, he added.
Dr. Vaid said that innovative mechanism needs to be followed by the law enforcing agencies to thwart the ill designs of anti social elements. Synergy among the forces with better public cooperation and monitoring at different levels would yield better result of our efforts in maintaining peace in the State. The forces have to ensure safety and security of the common people, while conducting anti-militancy operations, said DGP.
The meeting also discussed Republic Day preparedness in the district and briefed the DGP about the security arrangements put in place for the function. DGP asked the officers to gear up the man power, conduct night patrolling and naka checking in coordination with other forces. Input sharing with other districts and agencies would help to curb the activities of bad elements, added DGP.
Latter,  Dr. Vaid addressed a police darbar which was attended by a large number of police jawans and officers.
DGP stressed upon the jawans and officers to improve their proficiency and keep the normalcy maintained which has been restored after offering supreme sacrifices.
Among others, the meeting and durbar was attended by IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, DIG CKR, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, SSP, Budgam, Waheed Ahmed Shah and all SDPOs of the district.
