JAMMU, Jan 14: Kashmiri Pandits who are leading an exiled life in Jammu and other parts of country for last 27 years have made an appeal to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to find an everlasting solution to their problems by rehabilitating the community in their homeland in Kashmir valley on their own terms and conditions.
The appeal was made by a group of KP activists from Jagti township and other migrant camps who while drawing the attention of Prime Minister towards the plight of the exiled Pandits wanted to know how long this peace loving community has to suffer in world’s greatest democracy and languish in exile.
“We have crossed the limit of Lord Rama’s and Pandav’s exile also and will our suffering end at any occasion as the community which has the richest cultural history of over 5000 years sees its future bleak’’, they said.
Pinning high hopes in Prime Minister they said the community has full faith and confidence in him as it knows that Narendra Modi has capability and leadership qualities in finding an ever lasting solution to our problems as he took some dynamic and revolutionary steps in shaping the future of this nation.
The KP activists said it is the need of the hour to consult the KP community before any formulation of future programme and “we demand to rehabilitate the community in a particular place with Union Territory Status in the Valley, so that, we could have our political voice with all Constitutional, fundamental and political rights’’. The community has seen many exodus from last over 600 years. So it cannot bear a further one.
“Therefore we demand that a solution be sought once for all. We have suffered and lost a lot. Till the demand for the single township for KPs in Kashmir is achieved, the Kashmiri Pandit community be declared internally displaced people’’, they further demanded.
