NEW DELHI: Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, today warned Pakistan that while India sought peace on the Line of Control (LoC) any ceasefire violations and untoward incidents propagated by Islamabad would be responded to by force.

In his Army Day Parade here, the Army Chief, however said with regard to China — both sides are adopting confidence building measures (CBMs) and have also improved on mutual coordination.

“On the north, India wants peace with China. Both sides are adopting confidence building measures (so that tension on the border is reduced. Despite transgressions (on LAC), the Armies on both sides have improved on mutual coordination,” he said.

These measures were being further strengthened along the Line of Actual Control with China to reduce tensions, he said. Warning Pakistan without taking any name, the General said Indian Government’s efforts to restore peace on the border must not be viewed as weaknesses. (AGENCIES)
