JAMMU, Jan 19 : A suspended cop of J&K police was today found dead from a park in Digiana area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, some people noticed the dead body of a man lying in a park at Digiana this evening and informed the police. He said that on getting information police reached the spot and shifted the body to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for post mortem.
He said later the deceased was identified as Shankar Singh (50) son of Balwan Singh, resident of Poonch and presently residing at Preet Nagar in Digiana area of Jammu. He said that the deceased was a habitual drunkard and was suspended from his duties allegedly due to excessive drinking.
“Though the exact reasons of the death of the cop may be ascertained only after post mortem but prima facie it appears that he died due to alcohol poisoning”, Sub Inspector, police post Digiana, Pawan Dogra said, adding, inquest proceedings have been initiated in the case.
