USTA holds protest at DSE office; highlight demands

JAMMU, Oct 12: United School Teachers Association (USTA) today held a protest demonstration at Directorate of School Education (DSE), to seek attention of the Government and the higher education authorities on the issues pertaining to the teaching fraternity.
Hundreds of activists, workers, leaders and sympathizers of USTA gathered in the premises of DSE and demanded redressal to their long pending demands, over which the authorities have adopted lackadaisical approach.
Addressing the gathering, Hari Singh, president, J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA), dwelled upon the issues pertaining to the school teachers and non-teaching employees and castigated the Centre and the State Government for inflicting innumerable economic hardships upon downtrodden masses of the people.
The speakers called upon the Government to take a cue for transfer policy and rules framed in the State of Andhra Pradesh and implement the same with necessary modification after interaction with the representatives of the teaching community.
They also demanded regularization of ReT teachers vis-à-vis enhancement in their wages, transfer policy for regularized ReT teachers and inclusion of 5 years un-regularised period in their service, DPC of class 4th and other non teaching employees, selection grade for trained under graduate teachers, promotion of all trained post graduate teachers/ masters as lecturers, removal of pay anomalies of under graduate teachers appointed between 1992 and 1997 and pre-revised pay scale of 6,500 and 10500, filling all vacant posts in the schools, adopting common school system, etc.
Among others present were Rajiv Kumar, general secretary, Banarsi Dass, Sham Prasad Kesar, Seva Ram, Darshan Lal, Chamel Singh, Dr Shashi Paul Singh, Pardeep Singh, etc.
