LONDON: Veteran singer Dame Vera Lynna will celebrate turning 100 by releasing her new album.

The “Forces’ Sweetheart” will mark the milestone with the record which features new re-orchestrated versions of her most beloved music alongside her original vocals, reported BBC.

“It’s truly humbling that people still enjoy these songs from so many years ago, reliving the emotions of that time- I was after all just doing my job as a singer- and it’s so wonderful for me to hear my songs again so beautifully presented in a completely new way,” the British songstress said.

Set for March 17 release, three days before her birthday, the collection will make Lynn the first singer to have released a new album as a centenarian.

This comes after Lynn became the oldest living artist to get a top 20 UK album.

Her centenary is also being marked with a concert at the London Palladium on March 18 that will raise money for her children’s charity. (AGENCIES)
