DODA, Feb 2: A 26-year-old mentally retarded man allegedly stabbed to death three people including his parents and injured two tenants in Thathri, today.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Tousif alias Firdous, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Thathri had some altercation with his family following which he assaulted his parents, a kin and two tenants with a sharp-edged weapon (axe) at Thathri. Tousif’s father namely 80-year-old Ghulam Mohammad, son of Lassa Mochi of Thathri died on spot, he added.
After getting information, a team from Thathri police station rushed to the spot and while shifting the injured persons from Primary Health Center (PHC) Thathri to District Hospital, Sakina Begum, wife of Ghulam Mohammad succumbed to her injuries, SSP said, adding that relative of the victim namely Bahar Din, son of Zaffarullah of Thakraie failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital Doda.
The seriously injured father-son duo (tenants) identified as Rajesh Kumar (54) and Pujari Lal (22) from Jalandhar were later referred from District Hospital to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for advanced treatment, SSP added. The tenants were working as vendor in Thathri market, he stated
“Son of the deceased elderly couple, Firdous Ahmed was arrested from the crime scene and weapon of offence has been seized. Firdous confessed to killing his parents and stabbing others during interrogation by police”, SSP said, adding that a case under FIR Number 9/17 under Section 302 and 307 RPC has been registered against the accused at Thathri police station and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DySP has been constituted to ascertain the reason behind this gruesome attack.
