NC’s concern over delay in payment of relief to migrants

JAMMU, Feb 10: National Conference Minority Cell has expressed grave concern over delay in payment of cash relief and ration to Kashmiri migrants.
In a statement issued here, today, the president of the Cell, M K Yogi said though Shivratri one of the main festivals of Kashmiri Pandits is just 14 days away the Government has not released the cash payment of December till date which is a serious concern.
Yogi who along with his team visited various camps including Jagti, Nagrota, Muthi and Purkhoo while discussing the problems of the migrants in meetings there expressed his dismay over the failure of the Government in not issuing the ration since October last year to majority of migrants in camp and non camp areas.
He said there is no proper sanitation in the camps and people face problems due to lack of proper drainage system and civic amenities.
He also took authorities to task for failure in renovation of quarters at Jagti, Nagrota and Purkhoo and delaying tactics in allotment of shops to deserving by the Relief organization.
He expressed his dismay over the harassment meted out by migrants through the hands of relief organization which day in and day out demand new proofs and documents.
Yogi, while demanded launch of recruitment drive in police also stressed on construction of more quarters for bifurcated families and demanded a probe on fresh registration being made by the coalition in favor of political workers.
Later the delegation of the Cell called on Relief authorities and discussed the issues with them threadbare.
Ex MLC Bushan Lal Bhat, Mohan Lal Pandita, Bal Krishan Bhat, Amit Koul, Shiban Jee Pandita and T K Koul were present in the meetings.
