REASI : Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda, today inaugurated an eye check up camp organised by Salal Power Station of NHPC Limited under its CSR Programme at Zorawar Hospital, Jyotipuram.
General Manager Salal Power Station A G Ansari, Chief Engineers M G Ghai and A Z Geelani, doctors, other Senior Officers, employees, ladies from NHPC Family, CISF Personnel and locals were present in the occasion.
The Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by Salal Power Station in improving education, development profile of the area, road connectivity, construction of foot bridges and campaigns launched under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. He said that the project is playing major role in creating the assets under its CSR component apart from power generation.
Earlier, General Manager said eyes are the precious organs of the body as they are windows to the world and thus every care should be taken to keep them healthy. He further said that cataracts, very common among older people, affect vision and are the leading cause of blindness in the world today.
Dr. R.D.Sood, Sr. Ophthalmologist and his team from Jammu checked up the patients and the patients requiring cataract surgery were also identified during the camp for taking up surgeries in due course by NHPC. The NHPC doctors extended co-operation to the visiting team to facilitate smooth conduct of the camp.
The Minister also interacted with the visiting patients and advised them to take benefit of the camp wherein NHPC is conducting Cataract Surgeries by Phaco Emulsification, a very advanced and successful technology.
A total of 322 people from various villages surrounding Salal Power Station attended the camp.
