SAMBA, Feb 13: The Badali village of Samba has been enabled for digital payments with every household owning a bank account and promotion of digital banking, e-payments and cashless transactions facilitated by District Administration, JK Grameen Bank and NABARD.
Besides, Smailpur village of Bari Brahmana block has been taken up next under the initiative of expanding digital banking system. This was disclosed in the meeting of Bankers and District/Sectoral Officers chaired by District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, to review the progress and performance of banks in key areas relating to deposits, advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending December,2016.
The Lead Bank Manager, Veerji Koul gave a detailed account of the performance of banks during the quarter under priority sectors, deposits and advances. The DDC directed banks to expand reach of financial literacy programmes with specific focus on the rural areas. She directed bank officials to bring all uncovered eligible beneficiaries under the ambit of Prime Minister Social Security Schemes and make customers aware of renewal of the insurance policies and ensuring their continuance.
The meeting was informed that Rs 46.49 crores have been disbursed under the Mudra Yojana during the quarter and Kissan Credit Cards have shown growth for the first time during the current financial year. The DDC directed officials to offer credit facility to financially viable Mushroom Growers of Sumb block, besides focusing on Joint Liability and Self Help groups and women beneficiaries which have immense potential.
Reviewing performance of Govt sponsored cases, the DDC directed officials to follow up their sponsored cases and facilitate the applicants. It was informed that loan recovery has considerably improved with the intervention of District Administration. DDM NABARD, Surinder Singh asked bank officers to ensure that timely, adequate and hassle free loan is provided to the deserving applicants.
CPO Samba, Jasbir Singh, LDO RBI Abhilasha Diwakar, GM DIC Varinder Kumar Manyal, bankers and heads of various departments attended the meeting.
