JAMMU, Feb 13: Activists of  Pradesh Mahila Congress under the leadership of  its president    Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA) today held protest  against hike in the prices of essential commodities in general and fuel in particular here today.
The  Mahila Congress workers assembled  near Press Club here in the morning and launched  protest demonstration.   They shouted slogans against BJP led NDA Government for pursuing anti-poor policies to fulfill interest of the big business houses at the cost of marginalized section of the society.
Speaking on the occasion  Mrs  Pawar regretted  that since formation of BJP led Government at the Centre,  prices of the essential commodities have been increasing with every passing day. She said that price of fuel including LPG has been increased manifold since formation of this  Government.
She said the Central Government has failed to fulfill its promises. The prices basic commodities such as potato, onion, milk, diesel, petrol and LPG, which directly affect all classes of society, have been increased. The poor and lower middle class people are feeling over burdened. This Govt has failed to bring ‘Achhe Din’ for the common man, she added.
Pawar alleged that  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played with the sentiments of the people and failed to deliver the promises he had made during the 2014 Lok Sabha and 2014  Assembly elections in J&K. She  pointed out that  instead of controlling the price rise, rates of essential commodities have increased because this government is serving only interest of big business houses.
She criticized BJP Government for the recent hike in petroleum products especially LPG, which in turn will lead to a further hike in prices of essential commodities. She said BJP has misguided the country by making false promises to come to power.
Mahila Congress leaders Vandana Makhnotra, Santosh Sharma, Geeta Dogra, Champa Devi, Veena Kumari, Kanta Thakur, Sheetal Chib, Veena Sharma and others also accompanied.
