JAMMU, Feb 14: The prominent citizens and social workers for development of holy shrine of Purmandal have demanded that proper arrangements for celebration of holy festival of Maha Shivratri falling on February 24 be made at this holy shrine also where large number of people throng in participation of mela of that day.
In an appeal to Dharmarth Trust they while turning its attention towards the celebration of holy festival of Maha Shivratri at other shines of Lord Shiva in Jammu especially at Shiv Khori, Ranbireshwar temple, Jammu, Aap Shambhu Mahadev etc for which preliminary arrangements have started for smooth conducting of the festival said nothing is being heard about the Purmandal Shiva shrine.
They, while highlighting the history and religious sanctity of the holy shrine of Purmandal said it dates back to the period when Jammu city was not a city of temples. Accordingly the shrine deserved special status as well as special attention towards its upkeep and maintenance but facial look of the shrine speaks the history itself.
Since the management of Shrine is with the Dharmarth Trust as such it becomes obligatory on the part of the Trust to make suitable arrangements pre hand for providing proper facilities to the devotees visiting the shrine during celebrations.
They demanded that proper arrangements like free flow of traffic on the roads connecting the shrine as well as uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during the festival.
They said besides, cleanliness and sanitation facilities to the devotees in the shrine, Devika river bed as well as the town itself during and after festival and making the bathrooms and entertainment parks functional.
Moreover the ban on cremation on the bed of river Devika be fully enforced. In addition to it the shrine be given full publicity by holding exhibitions and giving advertisements in print and electronic media and erecting hoardings and banners etc.
