Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Road surface damages within just 2 months’ DE Feb 15, 2017.
It is a matter of concern that the newly black-topped roads are once again in bad condition. After black-topping almost all city roads, it was expected that these may last for at least for two years. The people felt delighted to see well metalled roads once again and they were in real sense a driver’s delight. However, no one had thought that these would again turn into pot-holes in such a little time. The people had raised their expectations on the ground that contractors would abide by contract clause which guaranteed that in case a road gets damaged in a short span of time, the concerned contractor shall maintain the road on his own expenses. Whether such a clause existed or not, only the concerned authorities know. What a commonman knows is that he has suffer the agony of a bumpy ride, untill the time these roads are once again repaired.
The bad roads do not merely obstruct smooth flow of traffic but are also responsible for many traffic accidents. The Government must take cognizance of this fact.
Yours etc…
