JAMMU, Feb 18: RS Pura police under Operation Sanjeevani arrested two narcotics smugglers and recovered heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from RS Pura police station laid a naka at Banota Morh and signaled a motorcycle to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the bike and tried to escape, but the cops managed to intercept the bike near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 8 grams heroin from the possession of rider and pillion rider and arrested them on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar alias Jony, son of Harbans Lal of Kulian, Miran Sahib and Ashok Kumar alias Shoka, son of Gian Chand of RS Pura.
A case under FIR Number 31/17 under Section 8/21/22/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at RS Pura police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of consignment.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
