JAMMU, Mar 1: On the nationwide launch of Swachh Shakti Saptah (March 1 to March 8, 2017) a meeting under the chairmanship of Dr Manmohan Singh, Commis-sioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied by R S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A) and Dr Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, JMC, was held wherein women from different walks of life participated.
During the course of meeting stress was given on maintaining proper sanitation in their respective areas by way of putting their efforts and also by motivating the general masses about the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by the Prime Minister of India. Suggestions were invited from the participating women in the meeting in respect of providing as well as maintaining better sanitation facilities.
During the meeting, the JMC Commissioner stated that Jammu Municipal Corporation has started collection of door to door garbage in some wards of the Corporation and the said scheme would be started in each ward of the JMC which would help to provide better sanitation facilities. He added that new dustbins would be installed wherever required and every household provided dust-bins for separate collection of waste.
During the course of meeting, number of women offered their voluntary services for maintaining proper sanitation as well as creating awareness among the general masses about the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Commissioner, JMC further stated that women always play a vital role in respect of maintaining proper sanitation in their houses and surroundings as well and Swachh Shakti Saptah is also women oriented week wherein the participation of women would play a significant role to motivate the general masses about the importance of sanitation and hygiene. He stressed that more and more women should come forward for making the Swacch Shakti Saptah a grand success.
