JAMMU, Mar 1: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid today described executive police and crime wing as important pillars of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) saying both the agencies have great responsibility to win the trust of people by delivering justice.
Dr. Vaid said this while reviewing the functioning of State Crime Wing and Jammu Zone. The meeting was called as part of series of meetings by the DGP to review the functioning of the different wings of the organization.
The meeting was attended by IGP (Personnel), J. P. Singh and IGP (Headquarters), Surinder Kumar Gupta.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Vaid said besides other areas of policing, crime detection and control are major responsibilities of Executive Police and Crime Wing. He said the two agencies are doing commendable job in the investigation field for which they time and again have been lauded by various quarters.
The DGP said the agencies have to adopt the new technology to improve on their efficiencies and to strengthen investigation methods. He said with criminals using modern day technology, it becomes imperative for the agencies to adopt latest techniques to detect and a put a check on crimes and criminals.
Highlighting the role of engaging civil society, the DGP said besides strengthening investigation network, the role of civil society can’t be undermined in curbing the crimes. He added the department should seek the public cooperation to get desired results.
He sought reports from the concerned officers about the measures taken to strengthen the investigation mechanism of Crime Wing in the State and maintaining the law and order situation and security scenario in Jammu Province.
The DGP stressed on need for creating awareness among masses and said a mechanism needs to be created to make public aware against the causes and consequences of various kinds of crimes.
He stressed upon the officers to ensure synergy at different levels to make the measures more fruitful, adding that maintaining law and order should always be on their priority. Supervisory officers should ensure to make their jurisdictions crime free by bringing visible change in their day-to-day functioning, he said.
He issued on spot instructions to strengthen the manpower and infrastructure of Crime Wing to make its working more effective and said PHQ is focussing on brining visible change in the working of all subordinate wings and up-grade their proficiency.
Digitalisation of records, evaluation of performance and improvement in working facilities with the help of modern techniques and acquaintance with professional skills are being focussed regularly, the DGP said.
Earlier, IGP Crime, Alok Puri and IGP Jammu Zone, Dr. S. D. Singh, through their power point presentations, briefed the meeting about the working of their wings and improvements made during the 2016.
DIG Jammu, AA Wani, DDP, Pawan Gupta, JDP, Gowhar Hussain Mir, AIGPs, Rahul Malik, JA Koul, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Sameer Rekhi, Mubassir Latifi and Kulbir Singh, Sr. ADO, Nasir Khan, DDPJ, Ravinder Rao, DDB, Muniesh Dutta, Exn PCD, Nisar Hussain, Exn PHC, Javaid Iqbal, SO to IGP Crime, BA Shah and other police officers also attended the meeting.
