FAWU elects office bearers, discusses grievances

JAMMU, Mar 6: Food and Allied Workers’ Union (FAWU), J&K today discussed the grievances of the workers and elected its new body during a meeting held today here at Union Office, Gummat, under the chairmanship of Vijay Kumar, the senior most leader of the Union.
The participants strongly criticized the State administration for illegally arresting 32 innocent workers working at Food Store Lathipura a few days back. “These workers were fighting for their genuine demands, as they have no work in their depots for last 8 months”, they added.
“Moreover, the bag rates have not been enhanced since 2012. The families of these workers are at the verge of starvation but the concerned authorities are not paying any heed towards their genuine demands”, the speakers said and extended their full support to the aggrieved workers.
Later, the representatives of the workers unanimously decided to dissolve the present body and elected new body comprising Kuldeep Raj from Chatha Depot as president, Khursheed Ali (Central Store Jammu) and Ghulam Mohd (Lassipora Lathipura, Kashmir) as vice presidents, Suresh Kumar (New Store Jammu) as general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Dar (Gulab Bagh, Kashmir) as secretary, Rakesh Kumar (New Store) as publicity secretary and Bansi Lal (Central Store) as cashier.
Other members of the new body are Neeraj Sharma (Chatha Store), Tara Chand (Chatha Store), Mangat Ram (Central Store), Anil Sharma (Chatha Store), Om Parkash (Central Store), Pyare Lal Sharma (Central Store), Harminder Singh, Abdul Hamid Bhat and Mohd Abdullah.
