SRINAGAR : Six fresh guests from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) arrived here, while 19 Kashmiris crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 23 returnees also crossed side at Kaman post, the last Indian Military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources said here today.
They said six PoK residents, five of them women, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot. Sources said 12 Kashmiris who had gone to PoK also returned to their homes after completing stay across the LoC with their relatives. They included four women and two children.
They said 19 Kashmiri residents, including nine women and two children, crossed over to other side of the LoC in the weekly Karan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK.
Sources said eleven PoK residents, including five women and three children, also returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir. The bus service, introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other after Indian and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects on permits instead of International permits.
However, people from both sides of the LoC are allowed to undertake travel only after their names are cleared by intelligence agencies from both countries. (AGENCIES)
