No tobacco products in Civil Sectt

JAMMU, Mar 9: Taking serious notice of   alleged violation of ban imposed on smoking and chewing tobacco products in the Civil Secretariat, the State Government has directed the SSP (Security) Civil Secretariat,   to ensure that employees and visitors are not allowed to carry such prohibited material in the Secretariat premises.
In this regard two separate circular have been issued by the General Administration Department, according to which, the SSP (Security), Civil Secretariat, shall ensure that nobody is allowed to carry cigarette and other tobacco products within the premises of Civil Secretariat besides bringing into the notice of concerned Administrative Secretary the instances of spitting or chewing of tobacco, for appropriate action against the delinquent employees.
Even as vide SRO 394 of 2008, dated 03-12-2008, powers have been  delegated to the officers for compounding the offence under Section 4 of the Tobacco Product Act,  the instance of violation are being reported from various quarters and the same has been viewed seriously by the authorities.
