NEW DELHI : A ‘triumphant’ Prime Minister today walked into the Lok Sabha with the ruling BJP members welcoming him with thumping of desks.
Today was the first day Mr Narendra Modi came to the House since BJP’s unprecedented and landslide  victory in the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Modi walked in when Question Hour had just started accompanied among others by  Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar.
Among others, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also were up on their feet applauding Prime Minister’s leadership in anchoring the unprecedented and what has been termed as an ‘historic’ victory for the BJP in the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP recorded massive victories in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand while lost power in alliance with Akali Dal in Punjab.
In two other states Manipur and Goa – where polls were held – Congress had emerged single largest party.
But BJP has cobbled together numbers along with members from smaller parties and independents  and former Defence Minister Manohor Parrikkar was yesterday sworn in as the Chief Minister in Goa.
N Biren Singh-led coalition government is to be sworn in Manipur later in the day today.
