Pak interfering in India’s internal affairs: MEA

NEW DELHI: In a hard-hitting response to Pakistan’s statement on Kashmir, India today asked the country not interfere in its internal matter and concentrate on addressing its own problem of terrorism.

“We have seen media reports about Pakistan High Commissioner’s remarks today regarding the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. They are not in keeping with diplomatic niceties and are tantamount to interference in our internal affairs,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Baglay said here in a statement.

Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit had earlier in the morning said the problem of Kashmir should be solved as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people. His remarks came after the flag hoisting ceremony on the National Day of Pakistan.

Reacting to his remarks, Mr Baglay said, “Pakistan would be well-advised to effectively address the challenge of terrorism emanating from that country, which has adversely affected peace and stability in the entire neighbourhood as well as Pakistan’s relations with other countries.” (AGENCIES)
