JAMMU, Mar 24: Usha Vohra, First Lady and President of ASHI, chaired the Annual General Body Meeting of Association for Social Health in India (ASHI), J&K Branch, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The General Body held extensive discussions to identify new projects and activities which will be undertaken by ASHI during 2017-18.
During the course of the discussions the members apprised Usha Vohra about the various welfare activities being carried out for women empowerment, vocational education and helping the disadvantaged sections of society. It was informed that all designated activities have been completed in the Panchayats of Jagti and Panjgrain and, further, ASHI has started its welfare programmes in the newly adopted panchayats of Chibba, Nadore and Marh.
She urged ASHI members to focus sharply on the empowerment of women and girl children through skill development. The need to install security cameras within the premises of the Neha Ghar- the short stay home being run by ASHI was also discussed.
On behalf of the Governor, Usha Vohra presented a cheque of Rs 8.65 lakh as financial assistance for the continuing programme of social uplift which are being carried out by ASHI.
Sushma Choudhary, Vice-President ASHI; Prof. Kailash Rajput, Secretary, Seema Khajooria Shekhar, Additional Secretary, Nasreen Khan, Joint Secretary, and Prof. Ved Ghai were among the 70 members of ASHI who were present in the meeting.
