POUNI (REASI), Mar 25: Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ajay Nanda laid the foundation of 75 meter long bridge work on Pouni-Thorni road here today.
The bridge with length of 75 meters would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.83 crore under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This was long pending demand of the locals of Pouni and adjoining areas who had to cover long distances on foot to get access to main road or tehsil headquarters.
The Minister reiterated the resolve of the Government for constructing several bridges to make them fit for connecting habitations of the State. He said the Government has initiated various micro and mega bridge projects on the roads sanctioned under PMGSY.
Interacting with locals, Ajay Nanda said the Government is fully committed to fulfill all the promises, adding that development coming up on the ground level testifies the seriousness of the Government towards the problems and development of common man. He also passed instructions to the executing agency to intensify the pace of bridge work so that it is completed at an earliest and people of remote village heave a sigh of relief over getting smooth road connectivity with this bridge.
Later, the Minister along with Vice-Chairman Kisan Board Daljit Singh Chib also inaugurated Kisan Mela which was organized by agriculture department. The guests inspected various stalls established there followed by technical lectures on the organic farming practices.
District Development Com-missioner Ravinder Kumar and several officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
