UDHAMPUR, Mar 27: Udhampur Police today seized 4.5 kg poppy straw (Bukki) and arrested driver of the vehicle, in which the contraband was being smuggled from Kashmir.
The vehicle, Tata Mobile PB083CX-3018, was intercepted on the National Highway near Jakhani, where a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Sanjeev Gupta, had laid a naka.
During thorough search of the vehicle, 4.5 kg poppy straw was recovered. Police seized the poppy straw and arrested the driver, namely Sonu of Sant Nagar Noor Mahal Jalandhar (Punjab).
Police also seized the vehicle and registered a case FIR no 133/17 under section 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station Udhampur for further investigation.
