Police pensioners meet Governor, project issues

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 31:  A delegation  of  Police pensioners  called on Governor NN Vohra here today  and discussed the burning issues of the pensioners of  State Police Department.
The delegation under the banner of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum  led by Ajit Singh projected the burning issues of the pensioners of Police department especially with regard to the pay anomalies. They alleged that due to the discriminatory  attitude of the higher authorities in the Home Department,  they are suffering a lot.
Referring to Govt order No. 229-F of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 regarding pay anomalies,  they said the effect  is being given prospectively, which means from the date of order, whereas, the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State but only Police Department was left out. Some of them have expired, the strugglers should be accorded the benefit.
They further pointed out that several Pay Anomaly  Committees have been formed  and they have given their opinion  and approval from time to time. Third time also the new committee was formed in April 2016 to look into the matter.  These committees appeared to be time consuming exercises. This issue is being dragged for the last two decades. Its fate should be decided without any more delay, they maintained.
The Governor listened to the matter carefully and patiently and assured to take up the same with concerned officials.
Members of  the Forum who accompanied Ajit Singh included Sat Paul Sharma, Mohd Zakir Shah, Mohd Sharief, Triloki Nath, Kuldeep Singh, Sukhdev Singh,  Raghubir Singh, Krishan Lal, Abdul Salam and Ashok Kumar.
