Zulfkar exhorts parents to encourage wards towards sports

JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that sports is imperative for overall development of human persona as it inculcates a spirit of camaraderie among the players.

The Minister was speaking at the concluding ceremony of ‘J&K Wushu Championship’, organized by J&K State Sports Council under the aegis of Prime Minister’s national initiative of ‘Khelo India Khelo’.

Zulfkar Ali said that education and sports together play an important role in overall physical and mental development of a child. He urged parents to encourage their children from an early age to participate in co-curricular activities adding that it will not only rejuvenate their body mechanisms but will also enthuse important virtues of sportsmanship and team spirit in them.

The Minister said the State Government is committed to create all necessary infrastructures for promotion of sports in the State and several innovative initiatives are being launched in this regard. “It is government’s earnest endeavor to equip the budding sports talent in the state with enhanced skills enabling them to compete at national and international events”, he added.

The Minister further said that our youth have enough potential to match international players adding that time and again state players have proved their mettle by exemplary performances at national and international sporting events.

Congratulating the participants, the Minister said that important thing for them is to strive hard for turning their passions into glory for themselves and for their country.

The players also demonstrated the discipline of Wushu to the audience on the occasion.

Later, the Minister distributed medals and trophies among the participants.
