POONCH, Apr 1: The police nabbed two bike riders and recovered 5 kilogram of poppy straw ( Bukki) from their possession in Poonch city here today.
A police spokesman said that acting on a specific information, a police party led by DSP Operation Mohd Salim Bhat laid a naka in the city here and intercepted two bike riders. They tried to escape from the spot but were over powered by the alert cops.
The police recovered 5 kg of poppy straw from their possession. The police seized the contraband consignment and arrested both the drug peddlers. They were identified as Harmeet Singh alias Bagga, son of Baldev Singh, resident of Mohalla Khori , Ward No. 6, Poonch and Vimal Kumar alias Pintu, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Jhallas village in Poonch.
The police registered a case FIR No. 37/ 2017 against them and started investigation. The police said that some more arrests are likely after the sustained questioning of arrested youth.
